This layout started with leftover scraps from my Butterfly on Squares page. I have to say, I like the squares one better!
The bird here was meant to be the focal point, but the background was a bit too busy and the bird was lost. That's why I added the circles around it. And I may have gone a little overboard with the punchinella circles and white paint.
I do like how the vertical strips of paper in the background give a bit of an impression of tree trunks.

Dragonfly specimens
This art journal page is a simple background made with direct-to-paper ink pads and some dragonflies out of a large scrapbooking pack. I wanted this page to look like a butterfly specimen layout, where all the different types are laid out in a grid and pinned.
Very simple, but pleasing in it's own way!

Image transfers gone wrong
I've been experimenting with various image transfers, and so far I haven't had good success! All the tutorials make it sound so easy, but so far I've just made a mess!
I think what I need to try is to get some LIQUID medium rather than the GEL medium I have been using so far. Not sure if that is the issue though... because sometimes the transfers seem too wet and sometimes too dry.
Must keep experimenting!

Work in progress
This canvas is 8x10, background is various acrylic paints, inks, washi papers, and stamping. The cut out butterflies are from the SEI Field Notes collection.
I like it so far.... but it just doesn't quite feel finished yet so I'm setting it aside to look at it a little later and see if I can come up with some finishing touches.

Butterfly on Squares
I really like the symmetry and organization of a background composed on squares and rectangles. This one is various washi papers, paints, inks and gesso on mixed media paper, with a few strips of magazine and a butterfly thrown in!

Calendar Journal
In January I started my first calendar page, and here it is now nearly complete!
My February page is ready to go and I'll be added the journaling on heart shapes that I punched from various papers:

Smash Birthday Card
This is the one and only submission I made to the Paper Crafts Birthday submission call. I thought this was actually a really fun and clever idea but it didn't get picked up for the magazine. Oh well!!
Have a smashing birthday! :)
